Like many people I became fed up with the high cost of dental work and insurance. I began to research how to get cheaper dental care and better insurance. Not bad care, just less expensive. What I found shocked me. I did not realize what a pawn my family had become in my dentist's game to line his pockets with riches. I was angry at what I discovered and you'll be to.

It seems as if dentistry has replaced cattle rustling in Arizona, as the best way to get rich.

It began with a Google search of dental care costs. I wanted to see if what we were charged by our dentist was in line with what other dentists charged. My first shock was that almost all the top websites under "dental care cost" were advertising to dentists. They were pitching ways dentists could charge more to their patients.

I found a website that appeared to allow you to compare dental cost by zip code. This sounded good. I wanted to know the going rate for a crown and a cavity filling. When I reached the website, it turned out to be a website telling dentists which zip codes they could charge the most in. It was the opposite of helping me. It was helping my dentist to charge more for dental care.

Take my previous dentist for example, in Arizona. His dental practice is in a prosperous zip code. His standard charges for some dental procedures have doubled over the past several years.

My family has health insurance. In the past, like many Americans, we either did not have dental insurance or when we did, it was limited.

Here is what really toasted my cookies regarding the website advice to help dental practices charge more. It turns out, that it is a wide spread practice for dentist to establish a tier system for charging, Here's how the tier system works for dental care. When you go in for your first appointment, the dentist or his office help size you up and guess how much you can pay.

Wear raggedy jeans to the dental office and you might be a tier one, getting the lowest fees. If a person is foolish enough to wear a nice watch or diamond earrings to your dentist office, you may be put in the computer as a tier five patient. You very well may pay more for each and every procedure you have at the dentist office, than the person who happened to wear raggedy jeans.

To summarize so far, we have two main techniques that your dentist may use to rip you off. First was the Zip Code Pricing Rip-Off. Next was the Patient Tier Pricing Method.

I accidentally discovered a third technique your dentist may use to rip you off. If you are lucky enough to have some dental insurance, it is probably a small amount that may likely not cover all of your expenses. Here is how your dentist may rip you off through insurance and you will never know.

Take my previous dentist for example, Dr. X (first letter G last letter S) of Arizona. He is not a participant in our family dental plan, but his son named Dr. X Junior is. They share the family office. The rules of the insurance plan that Dr. X Junior agreed to, require that he is limited to a certain charge for each procedure and his procedures are covered by our insurance. His father however would not be limited in what he could charge us, because he is not a participant in our insurance plan.

So here is how Dr. X Senior ran his dental office. We had been Doctor X's patients for some time. We would schedule a procedure with him and he would bill us, as our insurance did not cover him. But who did the work. It turns out, that Dr. X Junior actually did many of the procedures. We paid full price with no insurance coverage to Dr. X Senior from our own pocket, while his son did the work. It would have been and should have been covered, by our existing insurance due to his son's agreement with our insurance company.

After I discovered the above items I became even more curious. I contacted our insurance company which is the largest in Arizona. I asked them if what occurred was ok. Apparently it is not alright with them. They also indicated that they had multiple employer identification numbers for the good dentist and that the file was confusing.

Now a question has been raised as to whether certain procedures may have been coded incorrectly or double billed. Not that this is the case, just that the question has been raised.

I personally am not a vindictive person and did not pursue any claim against Dr. X. He, on the other hand, sent me a new bill for braces on a child that no longer has braces. This, over a year after we last visited his office. He also sent our final bill to collection.

So here is some no nonsense, straight talk advice to you and your family to save money on dentistry.

1. Get a good dentist in a poor zip code.

2. Shop around.

3. Check with the dental insurance company to see what your dentist is billing them.

4. Convince the dentist on the first visit that you are poor, so you get placed on the low tier.

5. Tell the dentist you have just enough money to pay him or her, and no more.

6. Negotiate every procedure.

7. If it's expensive get a second opinion.

We now have a very good and reasonably priced dentist by following this advice.

At the time of this writing, the stock is continuing to climb today (7/23/12) climbing to just under $.15 per share. The beauty of this company is that it has fundamentals; a good team, good product mix and revenue!

The Cuisinart Mini-Mate Plus Chopper Grinder is an essential kitchen tool! I find that I use this little appliance quite often and for the most common tasks.

This little appliance consists of a small bowl that fits over the motor section. Inside the bowl you place a small blade piece that is reversible. That is, you can put it in upside down or right side up, depending on finely you want the food inside to be chopped. One side will chop the food and the other side is more of a mixing blade, a great little feature! The motor is mounted on top of the bowl and there are two speeds of processing.

The bowl on this small appliance only holds about 1 cup of food or liquid or a combination thereof so it is not meant for large jobs. However, if you want to chop some hard cheese like parmesan for topping the casserole you just cooked, this is the perfect choice. Or, if you want to chop some carrots or celery for a salad, it is so much easier to put them into this handy little appliance than to chop them yourself. It is also great for chopping spices such as cinnamon stick and it works great with nuts. I often buy whole nuts because they are cheaper and then chop them. I do almonds a lot because I love green beans almondine!

This is also good if you want to combine a more liquid ingredient really well. For esample, I make single servings of instant pudding for my children in this little Cuisinart. I simply add ½ cup of milk and a scoop of pudding mix (the scoop is exactly 3 tablespoons in case anyone wants to try this) and turn it on and off a few times and my children have pudding. It is much cheaper than purchasing those individual pre-made cups of pudding and you KNOW it has real milk in it!

In my opinion, the greatest thing about this mini chopper/grinder is that is is soo easy to clean. I have a large Cuisinart Food Processor and I only drag it out for really big jobs because I hate to clean it! This little chopper is so easy. I simply rinse the bowl out and put it in the dishwasher. The blade also gets rinsed and put into the dishwasher (I have a little basket on the top rack that is usually used for baby bottle nipples or sippy cup valves but it works great for the chopper blade too). The motor part of the chopper is simply wiped clean with a sponge and a paper towel and you're done.

This chopper also takes up very little counter space so it lives on my counter at all times. This way it is always handy and ready to use but I don't have to worry about not having room to keep it.

There is nothing I would change about this product except to make it more widely available. I bought this little appliance several years ago and I went to purchase one for my cousin and found that it was very hard, but not totally impossible, to find. I had to do an online search and I was finally able to find it.

Home Appliance Repair Information That Will Work For You

Appliances can get damaged in a number or ways. Heavy objects can fall on the surface of the appliance or a sharp edge can scratch or chip the surface of the appliance. Shake the can of paint according to the directions on the can and spray the entire area very lightly. Then let the area dry well. After the paint is dry you should apply a second coat of paint to the area. You may have to apply several coats of paint until you get the damaged area covered entirely. Don't put on a heavy coat of the paint or you will develop drips and streaks on the surface of the appliance. If you do develop drips you can sand the area smooth and wipe it with a damp cloth. Once the area has dried you can apply a light coat of paint on the area.

When painting a metal surface it can be somewhat challenging to keep the paint from dripping and smearing. It is most important to apply thin coats of paint to prevent drips form developing.

Make The Search Engines Work For You

If you work within the web world, it all just makes sense.

We all know what SEO is, what SEM is, what PPC is, how search engines work, and how it all relates to building websites and performing well in the web world.

But for the everyday Internet user, these are likely not things that you think about on an everyday basis. Or you may have just heard these terms for the first time and wondered what it all meant. Believe it or not, simply understanding the basics I am describing here may help you become a more proficient Internet user as a whole; and if performed properly, the SEO tactics that follow should help you improve the amount of traffic that comes to your website naturally (i.e. at no cost to you).

For starters, let me define these three key acronyms:

1. SEM - Search Engine Marketing
2. PPC - Pay-Per-Click
3. SEO - Search Engine Optimization

What is SEM?

Let me begin with Search Engine Marketing, as this term is very broad and fairly simple to explain. Anyone who utilizes search engines to market their website is doing Search Engine Marketing, or SEM. This includes Pay-Per-Click and Search Engine Optimization, as well as other techniques, such as Social Networking or link building.

What about PPC?

The most common term associated with SEM is Pay Per Click, or PPC. PPC is the act of just what it sounds - paying for clicks. This is done via search engines such as Google or Yahoo, as well as others such as MSN or Ask.com. Any company that performs PPC does so by placing bids on keywords through one or more of these search engines. They then pay each time that ad is clicked on (but not until it is clicked on). This can be as simple as setting a bid price on a few of the terms most closely associated with your website, or as complicated as bidding on thousands of keywords and keyword groups that research has proven to be commonly used by users who are interested in a website such as yours.

When you perform a search within any search engine - lets say Google for the sake of simplicity - you get two types of results: paid search results and organic search results. At the top of the page, I will likely see a few links with a yellow background (and if you look closely, you will notice a label at the top of this area that says "Sponsored Links"). There are also likely a handful of links on the right side of the screen (also with a subtle "Sponsored links" label at the top). These are paid search results and are, as you would guess, the product of PPC. All other results are called organic, or natural, results. So now we know where paid search ads come from and have a vague idea of how Google and others decide to put them there.

What about the rest of these other organic results, right? Well that's where SEO comes in.

So then what is SEO?

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the act of optimizing a website such that search engines "like" your site. Unfortunately SEO is no simple science, but that is the beauty of it. Search engines have what are called search algorithms, or extremely complex rating systems, that have the power to decide how relevant your site is to any given keyword search based on a variety of factors. Where PPC is driven by the amount that is being bid on a keyword, SEO is being driven by how relevant your website is to the given search term(s). Sounds scary, but the wonderful thing is, the better their algorithm, the more likely you are to end up landing on a website that is exactly what you were looking for.

How do Search Engines Work?

When a search is performed, the search engine sends its "spiders" out to crawl every website on the Internet. Then, using their search algorithm, they are able to rate which of those sites is most relevant to the given search term(s) and return those results to you in order or their rated relevance. Although few people know exactly everything that is on that algorithms ever-changing mind, there are a number of factors in a websites content, design and structure that are given a great deal of importance. Relevancy is key - the more relevant a site is to a given search term or group of search terms, the more likely your site is to appear organically. But how do you prove that your site is more relevant than another site, when there are so many other sites out there?

More Specifically, how do I Effectively Perform SEO?

Aha, so now you want to know the key? Well again, there is no perfect science to it, but here is what I have gathered over time as the most important aspects of SEO that should help you focus your to improve your site's organic search results:

• Keywords:
  The keywords that are used within your site should be relevant to your sites content and should be chosen such that any user who is interested in your product or service would likely be searching using terms that are contained within your site content. Make sure that the most prominent keywords make up 3-5% of your site content.
• 
  

• Links - inbound as well as internal:
  Search engines view inbound links as important because it shows that sites other than your own have some interest in your site and therefore gives your site legitimacy and relevance. Links within your site that link to other pages within the site are also considered important, as it shows your site is organized in a way that improves the user's experience. Pages on your site that have nothing linking to them are not going to help your site out in any way.
• 
  

• Site history:
  Although this is not something you can change on the fly, it is true that if your site has existed for some time, you are going to have a better time at coming up higher in search results.
• 
  

• Original content:
  If you are using content that exists elsewhere, your site will be punished for it. I recommend always having original content on your site - even if it is only subtly different.
• 
  

• Meta tags:
